u/article5_pedant: Everyone asking about Article 5: it cannot be invoked. The mechanism runs through the North Atlantic Council, where the aggressor holds a seat and a veto, and the text describes an attack from outside the alliance.
There is no clause for a member attacking a member. The drafters in 1949 did not consider it worth writing down.
