I am a plumber in Copenhagen. I have never written anything political here in nine years.

The Americans have switched off our aeroplanes. I do not know what to do with that sentence. My father worked at the base at Karup. We were the good ones. We went to Afghanistan with them.

Frederiksen's voice broke on the word "partner".

I have never had a strong opinion about her. Tonight she is standing in the Folketing saying the thing out loud that all five million of us are thinking in our kitchens, and her voice broke, and I am not embarrassed to say mine did too.

Three weeks ago I wrote here that I had never posted about politics.

Tonight my union is voting on whether to refuse work on American-owned buildings in Copenhagen. Me. A plumber. Voting on foreign policy because there is nowhere else to put it.

I do not know if that is democracy working or democracy breaking.

Fifty-two days ago I fixed a boiler in Nørrebro and thought about nothing except the boiler.

I would like to go back to that. I do not think I get to. I think this is just what the world is now and the rest of my life happens inside it.

Anyway. Boiler in Valby tomorrow. It still needs doing.
