The people posting "good riddance" tonight all live at least a thousand kilometres further west than we do. It is very easy to be principled about a shield when you are standing behind two other people.

It is an air DEFENCE battery. It shoots down things that are flying at it. It cannot hit Greenland, it cannot hit a ship, it cannot hit anything that is not already attacking Iceland.

I am not being clever. That is what the letters SAM mean. If the presence of a defensive weapon on the territory of a country that invited it counts as provocation, then there is no such thing as defence and we should all stop pretending.
